Smoke Break: Public Enemy, "Fight the Power"

This past week in Juvenile Delinquency we watched "Made in America: Crips and Bloods" about gangs and gang warfare in the U.S. I mentioned to a few students how great the mixtape was and they were incredulous that I ("you?") had downloaded it. I also mentioned how great it was to hear snippets of "old school" hip hop from my college days in the 1980's. Pressed for an example of something classic, I couldn't think of anything better than Public Enemy's 1989 anthem "Fight the Power" (yes kids, Flavor-Flav had a career before reality t.v.).
